You’re so Cool
Over the past year of my life I’ve become intrigued by so many new people I’ve met & my impression of them has immediately been that they’re just “cool”.
Popularity hasn’t been a factor - I have no idea how many friends some of these people have. But i think it’s exciting when you meet someone and can just tell they’re a cool person.
From these interactions I’ve done some reflecting on what characteristics they have that makes them a cool person.
Can laugh at themselves
Confident
Doesn’t take things too seriously
Funny
Interesting hobbies
Does things
Invests in themselves
Intellectual/stimulating conversation
At the core, these individuals are secure in themselves. They know who they are, while still exploring new things. They’re brave enough to be bad at something, without allowing that to shake their confidence. They view life with an optimism and enthusiasm that makes being around them feel rich.
Those traits aren’t outside of reach. Everyone has the ability to be “cool”. It doesn’t mean that everyone will like you - they won’t. But you have the option to reinvent who you are at any time.
Confidence is a choice. Everyone will make mistakes. There isn’t a way to avoid that. Responding with maturity and grace will leave others with a positive impression and sense of your character. Having a sense of humor will bring a lightheartedness that will again impress others.
Beyond glorifying God, it really doesn’t matter what you do. Find your passions and pursue them. You aren’t limited to what other people like.
